ADLER

L'arrivée de l'ingénieur Karl Jenschke, débauché de chez Steyr Daimler Puch en 1935, apporte encore son lot d'innovations sur le modèle Adler 2,5 liter Autobahn, qui sera nommé Autobahnadler par la population. Le moteur refroidi par eau et lubrifié sous pression, des suspensions à triangle sur les roues avant, avec des amortisseurs hydrauliques pour les quatre roues, les freins actionnés par commande hydraulique et sa vitesse de pointe de 125 à 150 km/h pour le modèle sport en font une voiture adaptée aux autoroutes naissantes de l'Allemagne. http://www.lesrendezvousdelareine.com/search/adler/

1920, l'activité sportive du constructeur milanais s'intensifie, notamment grâce à des pilotes comme Antonio Ascari, Giuseppe Campari et Enzo Ferrari.

Cet industriel passionné de voitures qui dessine, construit et pilote ses propres créations est l'un des premiers constructeurs à associer la puissance des américaines à la carrosserie des européennes. C'est en 1946 que la société Allard Motor Co. Ltd est fondée à Clapham, Londres, et que sortent les premières véritables Allard, la K1 à deux places, la L à quatre places et la J1 de compétition dessinée par Godfrey Imhof puis la J2X. ROLLS ROYCE

Entre 1921 et 1931, une usine à Springfield, Massachusetts, produira 1 700 Silver Ghost avec des particularités exclusives. En 1931, Rolls-Royce achète Bentley, un constructeur concurrent plus petit qui connait des difficultés financières dues à la Grande Dépression. Henri Royce meurt en 1933 mais il aura encore conçu le moteur Merlin qui équipe notamment le chasseur Supermarine Spitfire. Durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, le gouvernement mandata Rolls-Royce pour créer une usine de l'ombre à Crewe pour y fabriquer des moteurs d'avion. Après la guerre, en 1946, les productions automobiles de Rolls-Royce et Bentley furent transférées à Crewe où ils purent assembler des véhicules complets avec carrosseries pour la première fois. Seuls des châssis étaient assemblés avant-guerre, laissant les carrosseries aux carrossiers spécialisés. http://www.rrec.org.uk

Saab (Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget) est née en 1937 de la volonté du gouvernement social-démocrate de l'époque de doter la Suède d'une industrie aéronautique capable, en cette période troublée, de défendre la neutralité du pays. L'activité démarre par des constructions sous licence, puis elle décolle avec la création du premier avion de conception suédoise, le B 17, suivi du B 18, qui apparaîtra sur le logo décorant les modèles de la marque automobile dans les années soixante. Le retour à la paix et les incertitudes qui pèsent sur l'avenir de l'aéronautique vont conduire les dirigeants de l'entreprise à chercher une diversification.
